A friend of mine was commenting on her blog about listening to church hymns lately. Humorously, I have been thinking about this post about a different sort of music for a couple of days now. You see, little girls like Weezer. About six years ago my brother told me that his then 2 year old daughter was singing "You take your car to work, I'll take my board..." At the time I found this both greatly amusing and incredible. I still find it halarious. But, now I see it as either part of the Sharp family rock-music-loving genes OR as a strange small girl Weezer loving phenomenon. And, if you're curious, I'm leaning toward the second.
Just one example, you say? Nay, nay. I have two more examples. I will call them, Arwen and Eleanor. My daughters LOVE Weezer. I'm pretty sure that Arwen listened to the Blue album and Pinkerton quite a bit when she was younger. And I know that both girls have been exposed to the Green album. But, oh, how they pine for the Red album. Is it because "Dangerous" has the word "Booyah!" in the chorus? Maybe. But their favorite line--the one they yell (sing loudly, you might call it, if you were being generous) is "And when it's party time, like 1999, I'll party by myself because I'm such a special guy!"
Some of you may shake your heads and wonder what I'm exposing my children to. However, I am filled with glee to hear them singing their collective guts out in the back seat along with me and their daddy. We are, for just a little while, a content little family doing something we all love...together.

And to think my children used to sing their hearts out to songs from "Camelot" "Evita" "The Sound of Music"...wow, have things changed! But that's why I love you guys so much!
Arwen and Eleanor have great taste!
I seem to recall my mother telling me I used to sing the lyrics to "Like a Virgin" when I was really little. Weezer suddenly doesn't sound so bad does it? :)
Hi Sarah! Its so wierd who you run into in this crazy world of blogging. You have a beautiful family!
As it turns out, little boys like Weezer, too! At least, mine do...
