Necessity is the Mother of Invention

This post is for all you white-trash moms out there (that's right, Laura B.!). It all started Sunday night when I was somewhat aware of putting Jack to bed in The Last Diaper. I thought with wild hope that there might be another one in the car, as I went to sleep, pushing away the nagging worry of what I was going to do if there wasn't one. Monday morning dawned freezing cold and I searched the car in vain--actually I searched the house in vain, too. So I decided to just let Jack wear the soggy one and hope that it didn't leak through from the time I took Arwen to school through the purchase of a package of diapers. It soon became apparent that the diaper was already leaking and I needed to find a solution, fast! Inspiration struck and I went upstairs to get the most masculine pair of Eleanor's underwear that I could find. I grabbed a pair that were teal-blue and headed for the bathroom. I found what I was looking for in a snap and headed downstairs with my spoils. Armed with a maxi-pad-lined pair of panties and the baby wipes, I proceeded to replace the soggy diaper with something truly girly. Jack did have a funny look on his face when I slid the underwear on, but after that momentary confusion he went about his business as usual none the more knowledgeable. (On a side note: it turns out that he and Eleanor have pretty much the same size butt!) We made it to Arwen's school. We made it to Wal-Mart. We made it home. I changed Jack when we got home and was pleased to find that my inspiration was sucessful! Nothing leaked out and even the panties were dry!

Poor Jack, we're trying so hard to treat him like a boy, but then his mother goes and does something like this...I can't wait to tell his first girlfriend. ;)
