Ah, Gluttony, thy name is Halloween

So, Halloween this year was a low-key affair. We got the costumes a week early instead of the day before (thanks to Arwen's grade school's Harvest Carnival) and I've never seen Ellie look so pretty. If any of you remember, she has been a cow two years in a row because of her lack of any provable growth hormones. So, this is the first year that she got to pick out her costume, a renaissance princess. Other than the fact that very little would keep her from getting run over by a car, because she is so small and because we got a dress in NAVY BLUE (I'm stupid, I know), it worked great. Arwen picked out this lovely woodland fairy thing and somehow we managed to make it through Halloween without dressing them both as a certain over-done Disney princess icon with a blue dress and blonde hair. I opted to deck them out even more with gold glitter in their hair. Glitter hairspray is such a good idea...in theory. Unfortunately, my children didn't react well to high-velocity sticky liquid coming at them and Arwen remarked several times that it got in her mouth. What can I say, I haven't used hairspray in forever since I hate it, too! Jack wore our final stint with the cow costume, but we didn't take any pics accept with my phone because he was asleep while the girls were getting dressed.

Ok, so this pic of Ellie wasn't exactly a pose...

How often do you get a picture of a kid with a tootsie roll in their mouth on Halloween? OK, probably yearly!

We made it a late to the carnival right before the trunk-or-treat but it was awesome because we didn't actually have to walk in a circle to get the cupcakes! :) (Thanks, Mom and Dad Sharp for a nice evening, by the way!) And when we got home my lifestyle change went out the window as Arwen, Ellie, and I gorged ourselves on candy. Thankfully they didn't get very much this year. Jack was just so happy to stand over the pile and swish his hands back and forth so that the candy flew in several directions.

These pictures are actually of Halloween Eve when I (yeah, like I'm gonna just hand over the steak knives to the kids!) carved pumpkins with the kids. Jack loved his pumpkin and was delighted that you could take the top off.

No, really, he LOVED his pumpkin. At least he eats his veggies.
I hope you all had a nice Halloween, too!

Cute! Love the costumes. Don't worry about dressing Ellie up in Navy Blue, I dressed up both the big boys in black. The picture of Jack eating the pumpkin is awesome. Funny boy.
