Thank you all for responding to our last post (If you haven't read it, we would like to know what you think). Through the course of this day we have also figured out how we can save an additional $250 a month. This will be attempted by cutting driving miles to less than 150 miles a week. That will mean two tanks of gas in 4 weeks.
Our hope is that this will cut our gas spending from $300-$350 a month to less than $120 per month. This means that we will not take a trip unless there is surplus in our account or fuel compensation (such as a show for the band). Unfortunately for our families this will mean many fewer trips to Roseburg and Salem, but it is in our best interest to save some green.
I know it may sound like an easy enough task to keep the miles under 150, but do remember that Sarah is still going to school which would be a 16 mile round trip daily, so the bus will be in use.
This is going to be a serious adjustment, but if we can cut out Oreos from our diet completely, we can do anything.
We'll see how it pans out.

Before we bought our house our apt was across the street from Dave's work. It was so nice we only had to have one car with no car payment, and we only filled up once a month. Boy has that changed.
We understand! That's why we're moving into a cheaper abode than we're in now. It should save us $250/mo.
Good for you guys!!!! We ought to try that as well. It would be tough but everything is pretty close. We have no good excuse. Keep us all updated on how it goes! :)
We have been trying to cut back driving our vehicles as well. We have walked a lot more places this summer - I now wish we would have bought a double exercise stroller. It makes me feel good when I know we haven't driven all day long. One of my aunts says one way she is frugal is by cutting open your toothpaste tube to get the last of the toothpaste out. Every bit counts :-) Lashelle
You can do it! Remember, we went without TV for TEN years, only renting videos occasionally. We also did not have a cell phone for years, or at least until I thought Kristoffer had been abducte - well, he was abducted by his father so they could go skiing, LOL! You will be an example to all of us. I am looking for ways to cut back myself. Yeah, I'd like to cut back myself to the tune of about 50 pounds!
